Whole Wheat Waffles

Jana here with one of our favorite breakfast recipes!  These whole wheat waffles are healthy, delicious, and filling!  They use staple ingredients that you should have on hand, and only take minutes to mix up!  The recipe makes 6-8 waffles.  If you have any leftover waffles, throw them in the freezer, and you will have a quick breakfast for another day!  The original recipe that I adapted came from one of my favorite money-saving blogs, Money Saving Mom

Whole Wheat Waffles

1 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 eggs
1 cup milk
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup oil (I use 1/4 cup natural applesauce and 1/4 cup oil)
1 teaspoon vanilla

1. Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl.
2. Lightly beat wet ingredients in a smaller bowl.
3. Add wet ingredients to dry, and stir just until moistened.
4. Pour batter into waffle iron and bake desired amount.

There are many different toppings that taste delicious on these.  Any type of fruit, syrup, peanut butter, or powdered sugar are all good options!  They are even really good plain!  If you are planning to freeze the waffles, you can double or triple the recipe to have more to freeze!
